We are currently recruiting for Casual Recreation Assistants at The Sands Centre in Carlisle.


Building on our continued growth, we’re now the UK’s largest leisure social enterprise – and set for even greater success. As a Recreation Assistant you will be responsible for assisting the Duty Manager deliver the smooth day-to-day running of the centre, you’ll ensure the health, safety and enjoyment of customers and colleagues alike.


We’re looking for ambitious and talented Recreation Assistants who are passionate about the leisure industry. So, if you’re looking for a desk job, this isn’t for you – as there’s no such thing as a typical day as Recreation Assitant. That’s what makes the role so special. Here, you could be doing anything from unlocking the leisure centre and setting up a sports activity to getting the building ready to stage a major artist or West End touring show. Your own development is just as important, as we’ll train you to sharpen your skills in this diverse role.

We also look for integrity, a can-do attitude, health and safety knowledge, and a customer service focus, combined with relevant professional qualifications such as First Aid at work.

Working pattern:
As and when required, generally evenings, weekends, Bank Holidays and School Holiday periods.

Contract Type:


National Minimum Wage

plus Holiday Pay allowance.
