Fitness Instructor

Job overview

GLL is looking for a full time Fitness Instructor based at Workington Leisure Centre. If you have plenty of energy, ambition and expertise then this is your chance to help people to achieve their fitness potential by becoming a Fitness Instructor with a leisure sector leader.

If you love variety, you'll thrive, as you never know who you'll be supporting next. A typical day could be anything from providing a personal service in the gym and offering workout advice, to checking the equipment and teaching classes. This means we're looking for a Fitness Instructor with physical fitness combined with a can-do attitude, an eye for detail and first class customer care skills. An obvious passion for all things fitness will need to shine through in all you do so that you can make a positive difference to people's lives.

As a Fitness Instructor, part of your role is to inspire people to train independently and keep coming back. So, it all starts with an induction where you will understand someone's ability and ambitions - and ultimately, devise a bespoke programme that suits their needs. As a real people-person, this will come naturally as you quickly build people's trust and confidence. Of course, you'll also need knowledge of health and safety legislation and an NVQ level 2 Fitness Instructor qualification.

In return, we offer a range of benefits that you'd expect from the UK's largest leisure provider:

  • Discounted membership at our leisure centres
  • The opportunity to join the GLL Society and have a say in how we're run plus associated social events
  • Career pathways
  • Ongoing training and development to help you to be the best

If you have the passion and skills for this role, apply now.

All pay rates are subject to skills, experience, qualifications, age and location.

To be shortlisted for the role, internal applicants will need to demonstrate their commitment to GLL by becoming a Society member where eligible.

GLL is an equal opportunities employer.

Better leisure centres are run by GLL, a charitable social enterprise, working with local authorities to run leisure centres, swimming pools, libraries and world-class sporting venues such as the Copper Box Arena and London Aquatics Centre in the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. As a not-for-profit organisation, we’re different. Passionate about seeing our communities thrive, we invest back into our facilities, projects and people. So, join us as Duty Manager and enjoy career progression and great benefits including flexible hours and locations, a uniform and discounted membership at all 170 centres.
